My Vacation Exercise Routine

When I go on vacation, I want time to relax and not worry about a to-do list. I want to have a slow morning and head to the beach for the day. I want to slowly get ready for dinner and choose a spot on a whim. I want to enjoy the days and evenings without planning out every little thing. I also want to stay active while on vacation, not because I feel the need to “work off” the food I’m eating, but because I know my body gets energy through physical activity. In years past, I would make sure I got in an hour workout almost every morning, but now that I have reached a better place with my body, I do not push myself that hard anymore.

I’m back to blogging after taking a few weeks off to focus on myself. Life has been quite busy lately and I could tell that I was starting to feel burnt out from trying to get everything done. Yesterday, I started getting back into the habit of working out in the morning. I recently moved into an apartment building that has a gym on the main floor and I am so pumped! The fact that I can roll out of bed and walk downstairs to the gym has helped me to stay motivated. When I headed down on Monday morning, I did not have much of a plan. I knew I wanted to get in a quick warm up on the treadmill and do a few dumbbell exercises, but I did not have a rigid routine in my head. Let me tell you, it felt really good to be able to head to the gym without obsessing over this.

Why I Skipped My Workout

I just got back from my trip to the mountains and I’m already missing it!  It was so nice to get away from reality for a long weekend and enjoy days of hiking and nights of eating delicious food.  We did some great hikes but most of them were (obviously) very steep.  My legs were so sore this morning, and I decided to cancel the cardio & lifting class I had put on my calendar last week.
