Since Valentine’s Day is this week, my mind is focused on all things self-love. I think Valentine’s Day is a great way/reminder for couples to celebrate their love and to be little extra romantic. For those who are single, it can sometimes be a reminder that you do not have anyone or anything to celebrate. However, I believe there is a lot to celebrate with or without someone special. Below are a few things that I think you should focus on this Valentine’s Day.
1) Celebrate your friendships
Your friends should be a great source of love and joy. Host a movie and wine night, take yourselves out to a fancy dinner, or spend the day baking! Do something fun with your closest friends and celebrate how much you’ve enjoyed your friendships with each other. Celebrate with people who lift you up!
2) Recognize your accomplishments
It’s easy for us to continue to look forward and have a list of goals we still have yet to achieve.
I think it’s time to start looking at what we’ve achieved and be shamelessly proud of ourselves.
What accomplishments can you celebrate this week? Are you successful in a career that you love? Did you finally launch that blog you’ve been wanting to write? Did you move to a new city where you didn’t know anyone? Are you financially independent? Celebrate all that you have achieved and let that momentum propel you forward towards your new goals.
3) Know your worth
If you’re single on Valentine’s Day (or any other day), it’s so easy to get caught up in the mindset that if you were in a relationship, you would be happier. I’ll be honest, sometimes those thoughts cross my mind but then I snap myself out of it. I literally tell myself to get it together. Instead of wishing for a partner or thinking that you will be happier with one, take this time to discover more about yourself and what you want in a relationship.
I know I don’t want to be someone who settles just because it’s easier and I don’t want that for you either.
So know your worth and know that you deserve everything that you want in a relationship. Don’t ever settle just to have someone to celebrate Valentine’s Day with.
